This was the first Bump Band album Mac produced at his Laughing Dogs studio near Austin Texas and like most of his recordings it's dedicated to his muse, Kim McLagan. Released in 2004, the Bump Band had the double thrust of Gurf Morlix and 'Scrappy' Jud Newcomb on guitars & vocals, George Reiff, bass & vocals; Don Harvey, drums; Ian McLagan, keyboards & vocals; and Patty Griffin adding her sweet soulful vocals. All the songs were written by Mac on this, his first solo production.

Bump In The Night MRCD 0002
Though it was Mac's second solo album, it's also the first Bump Band record, as the band was formed prior to this taping. Johnny Lee Schell on guitars & vocals, Ray Ohara on bass, Ricky Fataar on drums, and Mac mostly on rhythm guitar. Bonnie Raitt and Renee Geyer both recorded albums with the Bump Band after they heard the magic. All three albums were recorded at the Shangri-La studio made famous by The Band's movie, 'The Last Waltz' This album rocks, and features 'Little Girl', 'Judy Judy Judy' & the soulful 'So Lucky.'

This was the first album Ian McLagan recorded after moving to Austin Texas in 1994. Produced by Gurf Morlix at Arlyn Studios, it was the first Texas Bump Band album, which then consisted of Don Harvey on drums, 'Scrappy' Jud Newcomb on guitars & vocals, Sarah Brown on bass & vocals, Gurf on guitars & vocals, and Mac on Hammond B3, pianos, guitars & vocals. Ronnie Wood added guitars, and contributed vocals on 'Hello Old Friend', Mac's song for Ronnie Lane. And that's Billy Bragg singing with Mac on the title track, a song Mac wrote to his son, Lee.
